News from WAGU’s World of Rubber Technology

The latest news on WAGU: Visit our news section - we keep you posted.

In the third quarter of this year, a fully automatic weighing plant has begun operation at WAGU. 25 of the most common raw materials can be weighed with the usual WAGU precision. A modular design distinguishes the system in particular – it can be extended depending on the development of the product portfolio.

“In the course of acquiring the weighing plant, we also restructured our weighing facility as a whole,” Frank Stegemeier explains. “In doing so, we have optimized the work processes and significantly reduced the dust pollution in this area.” Additionally, the new weighing plant's ergonomics make work much more comfortable for our employees.

The restructured weighing facility is located in a separate part of the building on the WAGU site, which formerly served as a warehouse.

From July 2 to 5, 2018, around 300 exhibitors presented themselves at Europe's most important trade fair for rubber technologies, raw materials and compounds - the German Rubber Conference (DKT). An exhibitor record that attracted over 3,500 visitors to Nuremberg, who expertly visited both the fair and the numerous lectures.

WAGU as an exhibitor also had many highly interesting discussions - both with long-standing customers and with numerous new interested parties. In these trade fair discussions, we were able to take on a large number of new and in some cases already very concrete projects.

The result after four days at the fair is therefore extremely positive and the WAGU team is already looking forward to the next DKT from June 28 to July 1, 2021!

Following the very successful year 2017, the signs at WAGU continue to point to growth. Supported by the significant growth in orders in recent years and the newly defined strategic growth targets, we have decided to launch an investment offensive in 2018. The total volume of investments will amount to more than 10 percent of sales, one of the highest levels in the company's history.

Already in summer, an automatic raw material weighing system with 25 individual stations is put into operation, which can be extended as required. The new plant not only increases the level of automation, but also optimizes the processes for our employees.

At the end of 2018, the large mixing line will also be expanded by two rolling mills and a completely redesigned batch-off system. This will allow using the complete capacity of this mixing unit starting in 2019.

„"We are making the investments this year with a clear focus on further growth of WAGU Gummitechnik in order to meet the challenges of the future together with our customers," says Managing Director Tobias Nonnast. "Our goal is to continue to be a safe and reliable partner."

All investments are made during ongoing production - due to the corresponding planning no production, interruption will be necessary.
